Minier Farmer’s Market
2008 Operating Guidelines for Farmers

  1. Market Schedule – The Market will be held on Friday evenings from 5PM to 7PM starting Friday June 6th, and ending Friday September 12th.  To allow adequate preparation time, all vendors are required to respect the opening time and refrain from early sales.  Vendors are expected to arrive at least by 4:30 PM , be set up by 4:45PM , and stay until market closes at 7PM. Spaces of vendors who do not comply with these rules may be reassigned to another vendor.        NOTE : The Minier Farmer’s Market will not charge vendors for the 2008 season.
  2. Restrictions on Driving through the Market – Due to safety concerns, no vehicles may be driven through the Market between 5PM. and 7PM , If a vendor needs to leave early, a space at the end of the street may be requested, if available.  Other options may be discussed with Farmers’ Market representatives at the Information Booth.
  3. Extension of Market Schedule – In the event that the Market schedule or season is extended for any reason, these guidelines will remain in effect.
  4. Obligations of Market Management – The Farmers’ Market will be promoted through local media advertising, posters, banners, and press releases.  A representative will be available to open and close the Market and to address any vendor or customer concerns.  Concerns may also be addressed to Minier Farmers’ Market at the address or phone number indicated below.
  5. Products to be Sold – All new and returning vendors must complete a registration form each year, describing products to be sold during the season.

a.     Agricultural Products:  Fresh, high-quality fruits, vegetables, nuts, cut flowers, bedding plants, potted plants, may be sold at the market.  Products such as honey, jams, salsas, syrups, etc.) will be admitted, if the raw ingredients meet the guidelines set forth under “Product Criteria.”  Seasonings and certain other incidental ingredients may be exempt from the producer requirement.  Market management will make the final decision regarding eligibility of any products to be sold at the Market.  Vendors must remove ineligible products, if requested by a Market representative to do so.
       Note: All products are subject to Tazewell County Health Department and Illinois Department of Public Health rules and guidlines.

b.     Arts & Crafts:  High-quality arts and crafts may be sold if the vendor actively participated in their production or in production of the raw ingredients used in the finished item.  In cases where the vendor did not produce the raw ingredients used in the item, arts, and crafts may constitute no more than 20% of the items for sale and must be approved by Market management.  If arts and crafts exceed the 20% limit, the vendor must file an artist application and submit to the jury process. (NOTE:  Yarn and knitted items created from the wool of animals raised by the vendor and birdhouses created from gourds grown by the vendor would be examples of items not be subject to the 20% limit.)
