Public Transportation
Public transportation is available to all residents.  Accommodations for seniors and those with disabilities are provided. Some transportation needs include medical appointments, employment, grocery shopping, personal business appointments, hospitals, or nursing home visits.

What is the cost?  The fare box is $3.00 each way.  Individuals who wish to be billed monthly pay $3.50 each way and Senior Citizens are asked to make a donation each way.

How do I get service?  To arrange for a ride just call:  We Care, Inc. at 263-7708.  Residents can call collect.  We do ask that you try to call 24 hours in advance to make scheduling easier.  This is for your benefit as well as ours.

Meals – On – Wheels
Meals – On – Wheels is a home delivered meal service that provides nutritionally sound meals to eligible residents.  We Care, Inc. delivers the meals between 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every weekday (including holidays that fall on the weekday).  An optional sack supper may be delivered with the hot noon meal.  These meals are prepared at the Pekin Hospital.

Who is eligible?  Anyone who is unable to prepare adequate nourishment for themselves is eligible.  This includes Senior Citizens, those with disabilities and anyone recovering from an illness or hospital stay.

What is the cost?  The hot noon meal is $4.15.  The optional sack meal is available for an additional $1.75.  At the first of each month, the client will receive a bill for the previous month’s meal.

How do I begin?  You may begin by calling We Care, Inc. at 263-1015.  Referrals from doctors and social workers are accepted.  We do ask that you call 24 hours in advance for changes or cancellations.
